Dobbies Garden Centre, Hungerford Christmas Charity Launch Night – Thursday, 10 October 2019
Phoenix Brass entertained the public at Dobbies Garden Centre in Hungerford for their Christmas Charity Launch Night. This was a special evening organised by Dobbies in support of their charity partner, Teenage Cancer Trust.
The Band performed a mixed repertoire of music as the public browsed and shopped to get their Christmas preparations started.
Pewsey Carnival Band Concert and Thanksgiving Service – Sunday, 22 September 2019
Phoenix Brass returned to Pewsey for a small concert ahead of the customary annual Pewsey Carnival Thanksgiving Service. A large audience gathered inside the Bouverie Hall to listen to the Band perform a mixed repertoire of musical pieces ahead of the Church Service which was followed by trophy presentations.
Pewsey Carnival Opening Service and Light Switch On – Sunday, 8 September 2019
A large crowd turned out for the Opening Service and Light Switch On to launch the 2019 Pewsey Carnival. The Service was again held at Pewsey Fire Station and the Band performed a short Concert to the delight of the local community prior to playing hymns for the Church Service.
Prospect Hospice Garden Fete, Wroughton – Saturday, 31 August 2019
Prospect Hospice hosted its annual Garden Fete which brought the local community together to help raise much needed money towards funding the ongoing care the hospice provides. Phoenix Brass was pleased to be invited and play for this charitable event. The Band entertained the crowds as they attended the traditional Garden Fete and browsed the various stalls. Notwithstanding a heavy shower during the afternoon the Band played their usual varied repertoire of music under the baton of Anthony “Tug” Palmer.
Stockfest 2019, Stockcross – Sunday, 18 August 2019
Phoenix Brass performed for the first time at Stockfest, an event that has run each summer for the last six years in the village of Stockcross. Stockfest brings together residents of Stockcross and nearby villages for the festival which included music, talks, art, physical activities, a well established car show and craft / gift / vintage fair and events for adults and children. The day included The The Stockfest Classic Car Show which attracted a large number of visitors, many of whom stopped to listen to the Band.
Victoria Park Bandstand, Newbury – Sunday, 4 August 2019
Phoenix Brass returned to play at the Bandstand in Victoria Park, Newbury as part of the summer season of events. Passing shoppers, families who had come to play in the park and those who had chosen to spend a typical quintessential afternoon listening to the brass band gathered, some sitting in the hot afternoon sun, to relax and listen to a varied programme of musical pieces carefully chosen by Musical Director, David Watson.
The audience was treated to a solo performance by principal cornet player, Eloise Brooks, who played “Spanish Eyes” and received much acclaim.
Bowood House and Gardens, Wiltshire – Saturday, 27 July 2019
Some players from Phoenix Brass supported Calne Silver Band perform at the Summer Garden Party at Bowood House and Gardens, Wiltshire. A warm sunny afternoon greeted the players as the combined bands entertained the large crowds in the open at the edge of the Children’s Adventure Playground.
Market Lavington Vintage Meet Family Fun Weekend – Saturday/Sunday, 13/14 July 2019
Phoenix Brass played over the two day Market Lavington Vintage Meet held during the weekend of 13 and 14 July 2019. The reborn vintage event proved to be a huge success among exhibitors and visitors alike, attracting hundreds to the village and helping to raise funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance and local projects.
Playing near the main refreshment area, the musicians entertained visitors taking a break from the extremely hot weather.
St. Michael and All Angels’ Church Fete Lambourn – July 2019
A hot summers day greeted the band as they opened Lambourn Church Fete. This has become a long standing engagement in the Band’s diary and the players performed a mixed repertoire of musical pieces as members of the public sat and listened in the sun.
Chaddleworth Fete – June 2019
Playing at Chaddleworth Village Fete was a new engagement for the Band. Despite the mixed weather on the day, the players entertained the public suitably seated under cover and sheltered from the sun and showers.
Lambourn Vintage Machinery Society 2019 Spring Country Show – May 2019
Phoenix Brass commenced their 2019 summer season of engagements playing at the Lambourn Vintage Machinery Society Spring Country Show at Lambourn Woodlands. Members of the public took time from the other Show attractions to stand, sit, relax and listen to the musicians, sitting aloft a trailer, perform a mixed repertoire of musical pieces. The Band kept the crowds entertained from 11.15am until 4.00pm.
