Residents at Merlin Court Care Home, Marlborough, which provides residential, respite and dementia care, welcomed players from Phoenix Brass Band recently. Residents and care home staff gathered, anticipating an afternoon of musical delight.
Residents had a lovely afternoon with Phoenix Brass and very much enjoyed their music. The band played something for everybody from military marches to easy listening and pop and songs from the ‘Sound of Music’.
Players provided a relaxing atmosphere for the residents, bringing back memories for many.
Anthony Palmer (Tug), who conducted the band in the absence of David Watson, Musical Director, due to illness, said “It was lovely to play to residents at Merlin Court because we were able to take brass music to people who cannot otherwise go out to listen”.
One Resident said, “It was absolutely beautiful” whilst another asked “When is the band coming back?”
