Players from the Main Band said ‘Au Revoir’ to fellow musician, Iain Smith, a Front Row Cornet player. Iain who was formerly in the Services joined Phoenix Brass some 19 years ago after he left the Army and became a pharmacist at Larkhill Camp. He started on 3rd Cornet and progressed to Front Row Cornet. Recently, Iain successfully applied to join the Dispensary Station Medical Centre at the Canadian Forces Base at Suffield in Alberta, Canada, which is the largest military training area in Canada.
Iain selected a programme of music to join his fellow colleagues at his last rehearsal on Thursday evening (10 March 2022) before being presented with a rum glass engraved with the Phoenix Brass logo by David Watson, Musical Director. A small buffet was later enjoyed by all the players.
Iain flies out to Canada with Jackie, his wife, and dog on Monday, 14 March 2022. Everyone associated with Phoenix Brass sends Iain and the family all best wishes for his new career move and we hope to see him again sometime in the future. Au Revoir, Iain and Jackie!”
