‘Round the World’ Concert with a Twist!
On Saturday, 22 June Phoenix Brass Training Band entertained their family and friends with a ‘Round-The-World Concert and Quiz. The audience was invited to name the origins of the tunes played and everyone tried hard to show off their international music knowledge while enjoying coffee and cake! It was an occasion for the real ‘Beginners’ to join in with the music-making and their enthusiastic playing was a joy to hear and behold. A few players from the Main Band supported their colleagues during the Concert.
June is the month when Marilyn Mason, Training Band Director, presents The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Award to the Training Band member who has shown the most commitment, progress and helpfulness throughout the year. This year the award went to Jamie Greenwood who has ‘stuck with it’ since first learning a few notes and has just started to attend Main Band practises. Jamie is always smiling and well deserved the Award.
During the break, members of the Training Band took the opportunity for a ‘photo call’ on the Village Green.
