Phoenix Brass celebrated their 30th Birthday with an afternoon of music and a special guest at Marlborough Town Hall in May.
Joining players of the band for the Concert was Mike Kilroy, the Band’s President, but better known as an acclaimed euphonium player with several Championship Bands and an international soloist.
Mike is the current Chairman of Brass Bands England and aspires to continue making a positive contribution to the Brass Band Community which has played such an important part of his life. This role presents the opportunity to support and develop bands whilst promoting the benefits of and encouraging the participation in this unique pastime, Brass Banding. Despite his many commitments, Mike continues to be a most avid and enthusiastic supporter of the Band and again attended the Band’s Annual Dinner & Awards Evening the previous day.
Marlborough Town Hall was filled to capacity. The audience enjoyed the varied musical programme, especially when Mike Kilroy performed his solo performances which received rapturous applause.
The proceeds from the afternoon Concert totalled £450 and were divided between the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal Fund and the DEC Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal Fund.
