Another summer season is over, and not much sun, but the Band played on at fetes and country shows, plus two outdoor concerts.  Now we start getting ready for the winter season and Christmas.

December is a busy time and will see the Band playing carols in Marlborough High Street and outside the Tesco store in Marlborough, and five Christmas concerts at Lambourn, Merlin Court Marlborough, Gateway Club Woodborough, Burbage and Pewsey, ending with carols around the tree at Froxfield Village Hall, with the Christmas Draw and refreshments afterwards.   It would be nice to see you at any or all of the events, dates of which appear elsewhere in the Flame.

For the past few years the Band has been using a large gazebo for outdoor events, which was given to the Band by a very dear friend of the Band, but I am afraid to say it has come to the end of its life.  It has been put up and taken down so many times, things wear out and poles bend, so a new one is needed, because it is a big help to the Band apart from keeping out the rain and sun it helps the sound of the Band.

Another big outlay we are looking into is a new Band uniform jacket, so you see a lot of fundraising is needed to be done, starting with the Christmas Draw.  I know that times are hard for all, and all organisations like the Band are asking for your support but I hope you can see your way clear to buy an extra book of raffle tickets or to sell a few books, and also come to one or two of the Christmas concerts.

Elsewhere in the Flame is a copy of a letter, one of several I receive each year, to say how much pleasure the Band give to people, but we can only do it with your support.
